Svante Helms

Svante Helms is a highly experienced professional in food systems and humanitarian operations, currently serving as the National Food System Pathway Manager at the UN Food System Coordination Hub since August 2022, where responsibilities include leading country assistance and coordinating support among food system actors. Previously, Svante held the position of Country Director for the World Food Programme (WFP) in Bhutan, effectively transforming the office into a leader in disaster risk management, food systems, and nutrition, while expanding the team size significantly. Svante’s experience also includes serving as a Programme Advisor for WFP, where strategic guidance was provided across multiple regions, and founding an Edtech startup, PlayingMinds. With a background as an author and communication consultant, Svante has also co-founded a travel agency and worked with the Danish Red Cross to enhance project visibility. Svante holds a degree in communication studies and geography from Roskilde University.
