World Gym was founded in 1976 by Joe Gold during the glory days of Venice, CA's Muscle Beach. Joe was a ringleader of Muscle Beach originally. While he was at his peak, he toured with Mae West and was a part of the tight connection that has always existed between Hollywood and the Muscle Beach fitness scene. Joe paved the way for his Hollywoodcontemporaries, as well, those like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and Dave Draper, who all had a deep connection to World Gym and loved it. World Gym has become an internationally recognized brand that has captured the imagination and loyalty of fitness enthusiasts around the globe. From its legendary beginnings in Muscle Beach, World Gym has evolved into an internationally recognized brand.
