Michael Dougherty

Director, Communications Outreach & Engagement at World Agroforestry

Michael Dougherty is the Director of Communications, Outreach & Engagement at World Agroforestry. Michael has extensive experience in communications, having previously served as the Head of Communications for IUCN's Asia region. In this role, they were responsible for all of IUCN's communications activities in the Asia Region, overseeing a network of 15 communications staff in IUCN's regional and country offices. Michael has also managed communications for large multi-year, multi-country projects, such as the Mekong Water Dialogues, the Livelihoods and Landscapes Strategy, and the Mangroves for the Future initiative.

Michael Dougherty has a MA from Malmo University in Communications for Development and a Certificate from University of Washington in Content Strategy and Storytelling. Michael also has a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors).

They work with Lotta Hedberg - Chief of Staff, CIFOR, Tony Simons - Executive Director, CIFOR & ICRAF, and Idah Ogoso - Head of Human Resources, ICRAF. Michael Dougherty reports to Robert Nasi, Managing Director, CIFOR & ICRAF.
