Jörn Schmidt is the Director of Sustainable Aquatic Food Systems at WorldFish. They studied biology at the University of Hannover and earned a doctorate in fisheries biology from Kiel University in 2006. Jörn worked as a scientist at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel from 2009 to 2019, and since 2019, they have been a Senior Research Scientist there. Currently, they are leading the research group on Marine Food Security at Kiel Marine Science, focusing on sustainability in ocean systems and fisheries management. Additionally, Jörn is an adjunct professor at Dalhousie University, involved in various international projects and committees related to marine sciences.
