Trey Herbert has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Trey began their career in 2003 as an Usher and Stadium Operations Assistant for the Norfolk Tides Baseball Club. From 2006 to 2008, they worked as a High School Football Correspondent for The Virginian-Pilot. In 2010, Trey joined Harris Teeter as a Fresh Foods Clerk, where they stayed until 2014.
In 2012, Trey interned at 102.1 The Game, where they produced radio shows, answered phones, and engaged in on-air banter with hosts. Trey also had the opportunity to co-host shows when the hosts were on vacation.
From 2013 to 2014, Trey worked as a Producer at Red Zebra Broadcasting, specifically at sports radio 102.1 The Game. Trey then joined Max Media of Hampton Roads as a Producer and Board Op at ESPN Radio 94.1.
Trey's career in media continued as they worked as a Reporter and Producer at VCU InSight from January to May 2013. Trey also gained valuable experience as a Producer, Reporter, and Play by Play commentator for Rams Review, a student-run media organization. Trey'sresponsibilities included film production, post-game press conferences, and video editing using Adobe Premiere.
Trey transitioned into the field of news photography in 2014 when they joined WWBT/NBC12 Raycom Media. Trey stayed with the company until 2017, capturing news stories and events. From 2017 to 2020, Trey served as a News Photographer for WPTV, and then advanced to the role of Chief Photographer from 2020 to 2022. Currently, Trey holds the position of Senior Chief Photographer at WPTV, starting in September 2022.
Trey Herbert earned an Associate's degree in Social Sciences from Tidewater Community College, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Trey then pursued further education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from 2009 to 2013.
