Brian Murphy

Brian Murphy is a seasoned sports investigative reporter currently employed at WRAL since May 2022. Prior to this role, Brian served as the NC Insider editor and Washington DC correspondent for McClatchy from October 2016 to May 2022. Experience includes a position as Digital Editor at The Free Lance-Star and a sports columnist role at the Idaho Statesman from December 2005 to October 2014. Brian began a notable career as a sports writer at The Telegraph and participated in the Ultimate NFL Roadtrip project in 2000. Additional roles with The News & Observer Publishing Company and The Daily Tar Heel highlight Brian's extensive background in sports journalism, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earned in 2000.
