Liisa Ogburn

Liisa Ogburn is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in aging advocacy, writing, and documentary production. Serving as the Principal Owner of Aging Advisors NC since November 2016, Ogburn provides guidance to families navigating elder care decisions. As a columnist for WRAL since November 2017, Ogburn addresses critical aging issues, sharing insights on topics such as Medicare, assisted living, and home hospice. An accomplished writer, Ogburn's work has been featured in prominent publications and media outlets. Previous roles include Director of the Documenting Medicine Program at Duke University, where Ogburn taught medical professionals to convey patient stories through documentary, and Director of the Lewis Hine Fellowship, mentoring fellows in storytelling for nonprofit organizations. Ogburn holds a Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
