Amit Kumar

Amit Kumar is a Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in thermal engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, where Amit received the University Gold Medal. With over 29 years of experience, Amit has focused on the development and diffusion of cleaner and renewable energy technologies in India. Currently a Senior Fellow at WRI India since February 2022, Amit previously served as Senior Director for Social Transformation at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) from August 2016 to June 2021. Amit's extensive background at TERI also includes roles as Senior Fellow and Director of Energy-Environment Technology Development, as well as Dean of Distance and Short-term Education at TERI University. Additionally, from September 1982 to August 1987, Amit worked as a Development Engineer and Adjunct Professor in Sustainable Energy at Jyoti Ltd.'s Energy Division.
