Randa Kassis is an experienced essayist and prominent political activist focused on democratic and secular reforms in Syria. Since 2010, Kassis has operated as a writer while leading the pluralistic society movement as President since September 2012, advocating for a free and democratic Syria. Kassis served as President of the Astana Political Platform from April 2015 to June 2023, contributing significantly to the drafting of a new Syrian constitution. Additionally, Kassis was a member of the Syrian National Council during its formative period in late 2011 and held the presidency of the Coalition of Secular and Democratic Syrians, promoting inclusive opposition against the Assad regime. Kassis also co-founded the Freedom of Expression Association in 2007, focusing on the promotion of free expression in the Arab world.
