Sr. Principal Scientist at Wyze

Lin Chen is a Sr. Principal Scientist at Wyze. Lin was previously a Principal Scientist at Huawei from July 2018 to January 2020, where they led an international team conducting R&D in computer vision to improve products, launch new products, and explore new directions. These included face recognition in Huawei Cloud, object detection and image classification in Huawei Cloud, content moderation in Huawei Cloud, and smart annotation in ModelArts of Huawei Cloud. Lin also worked on desert recognition to facilitate self-checkout and a prototype for object relation detection which is used to detect rich content in an image and to facilitate better image retrieval. In addition, they created the Album Graph to organize personal photos based on knowledge graph of heterogeneous information. Her team placed 3rd in the WebVision 2019 Challenge and 4th in the Object Detection in Aerial Image Challenge 2019.

Before joining Huawei, Lin Chen was a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services from October 2017 to July 2018 and an Applied Scientist II at Amazon from December 2014 to October 2017. Prior to that, they were a Research Scientist at the Institute for Infocomm Research from February 2014 to October 2014.

Lin Chen received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic Engineering and Information Science from the University of Science and Technology of China. Lin then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from Nanyang Technological University Singapore.
