Michael Cavalier

Senior Director of Manufacturing at XBiotech

Michael Cavalier has over 14 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Michael is currently the Senior Director of Manufacturing at XBiotech USA, Inc., where they determine strategic direction and sets the plan for products, processes, and the cGMP manufacturing environment. Michael directs teams handling upstream and downstream processes, aseptic fill, and process development. Prior to this role, Michael served as the Director of Manufacturing, overseeing all aspects of drug substance and product manufacturing, and as a Manufacturing Manager, responsible for managing day-to-day activities in upstream and downstream processes. Michael has also served as a Manager of Downstream Manufacturing, overseeing downstream processes and drug product manufacturing. Before joining XBiotech, Michael worked as a Senior Scientist, specializing in purification and process development for antibodies and therapeutic proteins. Michael began their career as a PostDoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where they conducted protein purification and X-ray crystallography research. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Louisiana State University, where they used X-ray crystallography to study enzymatic catalysis and conducted small-molecule library screenings.

Michael Cavalier has a strong education background in biochemistry. Michael obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University in the years 2002 to 2006. Michael then furthered their studies at the same institution and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry from 2006 to 2012. Following that, they pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from 2012 to 2016.
