Peter Schmidt

Peter Schmidt is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as Senior Manager of Distribution Design at Xcel Energy since September 2017, Peter provides leadership for the design of gas and electric distribution systems, focusing on innovative and cost-effective solutions. Previously, Peter held various roles at Primus Power, including Field Manager, where responsibilities included integrating energy storage technology and managing product deployment, and Test Engineer, where the focus was on the design and testing of Zinc Bromine Batteries. Peter's experience also includes serving as a Nuclear Engineer in the US Navy, managing command-level operations on a nuclear submarine, and working as a Mechanical Engineer at Western Forge, where contributions included lean manufacturing improvements and prototype development. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
