Michael A. Smith has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 2007 as an Office of Admission Intern at Pepperdine University. In 2010, they became a Head English Teacher and English Teacher at Honors Review English Academy. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Researcher for the National Institute of Justice, an Economic Analyst for the Population Council, and an International Trade Associate for the City of Los Angeles. In 2015, they began working for OfferBoard as a Research and Content Manager and for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) as a Senior Director of International Trade and Investment, Director of International Trade, and International Trade Manager. In 2021, they began working as the Head of Deployments and Policy for Xeal, a technology-first electric vehicle (EV) charging company.
Michael A. Smith holds a B.A. in International Studies from Pepperdine University, with a minor in Marketing, as well as a Master of Public Policy from Pepperdine University School of Public Policy, with a focus in Economics and American Politics.
