John Olson

John Olson is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in CAD and design management. Currently serving as Lead of CAD/3D Design at X-energy since December 2025, John has previously held significant roles at Sierra Space as Senior Engineering Manager, where leadership involved directing design teams and championing modern engineering standards. At Sierra Nevada Corporation, John advanced from Manager II - Engineering Design to Mechanical Designer III, enhancing design accuracy and efficiency through standardized CAD tools and reliable component development for space applications. Earlier positions include Manager of Documentation and Control at Bell and Howell and Supervisor of Mechanical Design/CAD at Bowe Bell + Howell, along with foundational experience as a Mechanical Designer and Draftsman. John holds an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in Mechanical Drafting from the State University of New York at Delhi.
