Chi Zhang co-founded DeepMotion in 2017 and served as the R&D Director until its acquisition by Xiaomi in 2021. At DeepMotion, Chi led the mapping team and developed a low-cost HD mapping system while contributing to various aspects of the autonomous driving stack. Currently, Chi is a Principal Staff Engineer at Xiaomi Auto, where they lead the development of Xiaomi's City NOA and its simulation infrastructure. Chi's work has been showcased by Xiaomi's CEO during the debut of Xiaomi AD in 2022. They earned a PhD in Computer Science from Sun Yat-Sen University, where their research focused on stereo matching algorithms and 3D reconstruction.
