David Baumgart is currently the Head of Government Relations Europe at Xiaomi, a position they have held since 2022. Previously, they served as the Director of Government Relations at both Alibaba Group and Thermo Fisher Scientific from 2016 to 2021 and 2021 to 2022, respectively. David held the role of Economic & Industry Counsellor at the German Embassy in Beijing from 2013 to 2016 and worked as an Advocacy Manager and Communications & Issue Manager at BASF from 2011 to 2013. David earned a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München and also studied Japanese Economics, Politics, and Language at 東海大学. They hold another Master of Arts in Japanology, Politics, and Business Administration from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
