James Pickering

James Pickering has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and SQL development. James started their career in 2011 as a SQL Server Developer at Customer First Solutions. James then worked as a Consultant SQL Server Developer at Boparan Ventures Ltd, where they delivered financial and operational reports. In 2012, James joined Camwood as a Consultant SQL Server Developer, where they were involved in managing a global migration project for JP Morgan.

From 2014 to 2016, they worked at AlixPartners as a Consultant Senior SQL Server Analyst Developer/MI Analyst. James played a key role in providing data automation solutions to a major retail bank, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

In 2016, James joined Paragon Customer Communications as a Consultant SQL Server Developer. James was responsible for developing near real-time customer engagement communications and maintaining the customer engagement data warehouse.

After that, they worked as a Consultant Road Pricing Analyst at The AA, contributing to the company's road pricing analysis. James then joined Prudential plc as a SQL Developer, where they worked on database development.

Currently, James is a Data Engineer at Xiatech. James started as a Data Engineer in 2021 and has been recently promoted to the role of Senior Data Engineer.

Throughout their career, James has gained expertise in SQL Server, SSIS, Agile methodology, and Excel VBA. James has demonstrated their ability to gather requirements, design solutions, develop and maintain databases, and provide technical support to stakeholders.

James Pickering has a National Diploma in Information Technology from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, which they obtained from 2002 to 2004. James also holds a Senior Certificate from Diocesan College, earned from 1993 to 1997. In terms of certifications, they have obtained the following: MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, certified by Microsoft in January 2021; Tableau Author and Tableau Consumer certifications from Tableau Software in June 2020; and Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Excel (70-779), Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Power BI (70-778), and MCSA: BI Reporting certifications from Microsoft in March 2020.
