Ross Owen

Technical Director, Engineering at XMOS

Ross Owen has a diverse work experience, starting in 2004 as a Senior Technician at EM Computer Services until 2007. Ross then moved on to XMOS, where they held various roles. Ross began as a Junior Development Engineer from 2007-2008, working on silicon verification and hardware interface design. Ross then worked as a Development Engineer in Customer Engineering from 2008-2010, providing technical support and engagement with customers globally. From 2010-2014, Ross served as a Senior Development Engineer, responsible for designing a high-speed USB Audio Class 2.0 reference design. Following this, they became the Lead Applications Engineer from 2014-2017, overseeing the design and development of XMOS's voice products. Currently, Ross holds the role of Principal Technologist at XMOS, where they investigate and develops new application areas and devices, particularly in the field of AI. Recently, they were promoted to the role of Technical Director, Engineering, starting in July 2021.

Ross Owen completed their education at the University of Bristol from 2003 to 2007, where they received an MEng (Hons) degree in Computer Science. Before that, from 2000 to 2002, they attended Richard Huish College in Taunton for their high school education. In addition to their formal education, Ross Owen obtained several certifications, including "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" and "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" from Coursera in 2018, and "Development of Real-Time Systems" from Coursera Course Certificates in 2016.
