Tom Blackie

Programme Management Director at XMOS

Tom Blackie has extensive work experience in various leadership and management roles within the telecommunications industry. Tom started their career as a Research Engineer at GEC Hirst Research in 1983 and later worked at AT&T Network Systems as a Development Manager/Director from 1989 to 1999. Tom then joined Lucent Technologies as a Product Management Director from 1999 to 2006. Tom went on to work at Alcatel Lucent as an R&D Director for Optical Network Management from 2006 to 2010. Tom also served as a Business Manager for Small Cells Product Unit and a Director of Product Line Management at Alcatel-Lucent from 2010 to 2013. After that, they joined Alcatel-Lucent as a Small Cells 3G R&D Leader from 2014 to 2015. Following their tenure at Alcatel-Lucent, they worked at Cisco as a General Manager for the Small Cells Technology Group from 2015 to 2017. Currently, Tom is the Programme Management Director at XMOS since July 2019.

Tom Blackie completed their Master's degree in Electrical Sciences from the University of Cambridge from 1980 to 1983. Tom then pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General from The Open University Business School from 1990 to 1993. Their education continued with a Bachelor's Degree in Modern Language Studies from The Open University, which they earned between 2010 and 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Tom obtained several certifications. Tom earned a CSPO certification from Scrum Alliance in November 2011. In March 2000, they obtained an MIEEE certification from IEEE. Tom also holds certifications such as "C Eng" from Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), "Eur Ing" from FEANI, "MIET" from Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and "MInstP" from Institute of Physics.
