Romano Vacca has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and data science. Romano started their career as a Data Engineering Intern at IceMobile in February 2017 and then took on the roles of Data Engineer and Data Scientist at the same company. In October 2018, they joined Xomnia as a Data Scientist and later transitioned to the role of Data Engineer at the Municipality of Amsterdam in March 2020. There, they were responsible for writing infrastructure as code and setting up a machine learning platform. Romano then worked as a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist at VodafoneZiggo before returning to Xomnia as a Machine Learning Engineer. In their current role at Xomnia, they are a part of the Core team and is responsible for giving trainings and being a career mentor. Additionally, they have also worked as a Data Engineer at Hema, where they focused on building and improving the data platform for business needs in the supply chain squad. Overall, Romano Vacca has gained extensive expertise in data engineering and data science through their various roles in different organizations.
Romano Vacca completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Information Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 2013 to 2017. Romano also undertook extracurricular courses in Computer Science at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna in 2016. Additionally, they obtained a Propedeuse in Artificial Intelligence from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) between 2014 and 2015.
