Jon Fajans served in the U.S. Coast Guard from May 1983 to July 1994 in Health Services and Aviation Medicine. Fajans worked as an Associate Research Scientist at the Florida Institute of Oceanography from August 2005 to February 2012, where management of a grant-funded monitoring program in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary was a key responsibility. Prior to that, Fajans was a Biological Scientist at the University of Florida from January 2000 to August 2005. Currently, Fajans holds dual roles as an Ocean and Coastal Technical Applications Specialist and Field Engineer at Xylem Inc. since March 2015, and as President of C-ARMS, Inc. since February 2012, focusing on consulting services and project management in coral reef monitoring and scientific diving training. Fajans is also engaged as the Research and Education Officer and Dive Safety Officer for the Calabash Caye Field Station, Environmental Research Institute, University of Belize. Education was completed at the University of Florida from 2000 to 2004.
