Mike Abecina

Mike Abecina is a data scientist at Year13, currently developing deep learning topic modeling to streamline text data analysis. With experience across consulting, public sector, education, and technology, they have trained, validated, and deployed various NLP and computer vision models in production. Mike previously served as the Head of Data Strategy at William Clarke College, where they built machine learning models to assist students and utilized statistical analysis to address gender biases in teaching. They hold a Bachelor's in Actuarial Studies and Pure Mathematics from UNSW, a Graduate Diploma in Data Science from Monash University, and are pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English from Macquarie University.
