Peter Toft

Peter Toft has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Peter is currently working as a Solution Engineer at YellowDog, where they develop solutions to help customers achieve their business outcomes using the YellowDog platform.

Prior to their current role, Peter was the Founder and Director of Engineering at Avantrec Ltd since 2018. In this position, they co-founded the company and led the engineering team, exploring product ideas, providing consultancy services, and contributing to open-source software.

Before Avantrec Ltd, Peter held various senior leadership positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Peter served as the Senior Director of Engineering for HPE OneSphere, where they led a global team of over 200 engineering staff and played a pivotal role in developing HPE's OneSphere Hybrid Cloud Management solution.

Peter also served as the Senior Director of Engineering for Helion OpenStack, HPE Cloud, where they led a global team of 100+ engineering staff responsible for the core components of Helion OpenStack. During their tenure, HPE became the top contributor to upstream open-source OpenStack.

Before their senior director roles, Peter was the Director of Engineering for Compute Service at HP Cloud and also worked as a Program Manager for HP Cloud. Peter started their tenure at HPE as a Senior Research Project Manager at HP Labs, leading research and engineering teams focused on distributed systems and utility/cloud computing.

Peter's career at HP started in 1986 as a Software Support Engineer in the HP Office Productivity Division. Since then, they have held roles as a Member of Technical Staff at HP Labs, where they focused on distributed systems and intelligent telecoms systems combining traditional telephony with the web.

Throughout their career, Peter has demonstrated expertise in various areas, including product development strategy, process improvement, change management, and creating the right organizational culture. Peter'scontributions have been recognized, including winning the 2013 IRI Maurice Holland Award for an article they co-authored.

Peter Toft completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics at the University of Oxford from 1983 to 1986. Later, from 1990 to 1992, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Information Engineering at the University of Bristol.
