YouBelong Uganda (YBU) is a charity registered as a Non-Governmental Organization in Uganda. We develop and implement community-based mental health care models suitable for low resourced settings. We work to create linked and interconnected community-based services to care for people living with Mental Neurological and Substance use disorders (MNS); a shift from hospitals/ institutions to family and community centered care while paying special attention to their gender and age. In addition, we prioritise collaboration with people with lived experience; Nothing for us without us. 
Current Programs:
YouBelong Home: An intervention implemented in Wakiso and Kampala districts aimed at decongesting Butabika National Referral Hospital through a collaborative engagement with empowered families to return discharged patients to their communities.

SCAPE U Study: Strengthening CAre in Collaboration with People with lived Experience of Psychosis in Uganda: is a cluster-RCT that pilots collaboration with people with lived experience of psychosis to improve mental health services at primary health care facilities and in the community. 

PowerfulMinds: An approach of mental health care and safeguarding that is integrated in school settings in Uganda by fostering a collaboration of schools, families and the local school communities. 

Ensuring Quality in Psychosocial and Mental Health Care (EQUIP): Working with George Washington University in the US, we support the division of Mental Health and Substance use at the Ministry of Health and Carter center in Uganda to integrate EQUIP in the training of trainers and supervisors of the World Health Organization Mental Health Gap Action Program in the country. 

Women For Women: Focuses on enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of girls and young women through developing evidence based responses that address social social and cultural barriers which limit them from participating with equality.
