If you are a small business owner, you may well agree that success cannot simply be measured in terms of profit. It is more personal than cold, hard cash.

It might be the respect you earn from customers or competitors. It might be the ability to achieve a decent work-life balance. It might be that feeling of knowing you are building something that will benefit generations to come. It might be a combination of all these things. There really are as many definitions of success as there are business owners.

All too often, small business owners can be absolutely fantastic at what they do and extremely hardworking, yet find their dreams of success frustrated. Simply because they lack knowledge of the underlying mechanics of business itself.
 
They set out to be a landscape gardener, a mobile beautician, a personal trainer, a cafe-owner. Anything really, except a businessman!
