Gemma Stokes

Gemma Stokes is currently the Assay Design Lead at YouSeq, specializing in the design and verification of real-time PCR assays targeting pathogenic species, particularly in the veterinary and aquaculture sectors. Previously, as the Head of Bioinformatics at Primerdesign, part of Novacyt, Gemma led a team that contributed to the development of diagnostic testing kits during the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly enhancing the company’s response capabilities. Gemma graduated with an MSc in Molecular Genetics from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from Staffordshire University. Additionally, Gemma is a qualified Scrum Master and actively supports colleagues' well-being as a Mental Health First Aider.
