Robert Smart

Principal Solutions Architect at Zaizi

Robert Smart has extensive work experience in the field of technology and architecture. Robert started their career at IBM in 2000 where they worked as a Content Management Specialist and later as a XForms Architect/Developer, Lead WebSphere Portal Developer, and Senior Java Developer/Web Services Architect. During their time at IBM, they also served as an Architect in the Office of the CIO - Mobile Innovation Lab, where they worked on the development of Enterprise Mobile Solutions.

In 2016, Robert joined StarCloud as a Cloud Architect (Director), providing cloud consultancy and technical services, specializing in the use of Cloud Platforms and containerizing development workflows. Robert also worked with complex large-scale programs and multi-supplier integrations.

From 2016 to 2021, Robert worked at the Office for National Statistics (ONS), serving as a Platform Architect for the Survey Data Collection platform and later as the UK Census 2021 Solution Architect. In these roles, they worked closely with development teams and infrastructure to design and deliver microservices-based architectures using cloud technologies.

Currently, Robert is working at Zaizi as a Principal Solutions Architect.

Robert Smart attended the University of Nottingham from 1997 to 2000, where they obtained a BSc (hons) degree in Computer Science.
