Founded in 2022, Zamani Coffee emerged from humble beginnings as a small trading company with a simple yet powerful vision: to honor the deeply rooted heritage of Ugandan coffee while empowering the farmers who cultivate it.
The name Zamani is a tribute to the past, symbolizing the timeless legacy of coffee in this beautiful region. Across languages—from Swahili to Arabic to Turkish—it means “time” or “something treasured from the past.” In Uganda, coffee is more than just a crop; it’s a part of life, history, and culture. For generations, coffee has been central to the Ugandan way of life—from the coffee bean friendship blood oath to coffee-chewing rituals for energy on long hikes in the 1800s. This ancient crop, grown in the lush landscapes of Mt. Elgon, is a symbol of connection, resilience, and community. we believe in empowering growth—not just in the coffee beans we produce, but in the people who grow them. By working closely with small-scale elderly farmers in the Mt. Elgon region.
