Justin Chen

Justin Chen is the current Director of Software Engineering at Zeality. Prior to this, they were an Advisor/Development Lead at Viridisio Tech Ltd from June 2016 to August 2018. In this role, they advised on backend development and designed and implemented RESTful web services in Spring Boot and JAX-RS/Apache Jersey 2. Justin also prototyped and implemented a user authentication service with REST APIs in Node.js and facilitated a customer portal system in SAP Hybris to provide SSO functionality. Additionally, they managed the development process & tech stack, researched and prototyped solutions, refactored code, and wrote unit tests. Justin was successful in deploying backend services in Servlet 3.x to Amazon Web Service, achieving the milestone goal for the company. From February 2016 to June 2016, Justin was a Developer/Partner at a stealth education service startup where they implemented REST APIs, user management, and GEO Indexing/Searching RESTful web services in JAX-RS and Apache Jersey 2. Justin also set up dev. environments using Vagrant and Docker. Prior to that, from February 2009 to December 2015, Justin held the positions of Software Development Director, Development Manager, and Senior Software Developer at Live365. In these roles, they were responsible for leading a team of developers in building features for the Live365 radio platform and managing all aspects of software development including architecture, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Justin also wrote code and developed features for the Live365 website and mobile apps.

Justin Chen has a MS in Computer Sciences from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Justin is certified from LinkedIn in Learning Go, Learning Terraform, Microservices: Design Patterns, and React.js Essential Training.
