David Prather's work experience begins in 2011 as a Radio Assistant at 90.9 FM WDCB Public Radio. In 2015, they held marketing internships at Heart of Missouri United Way and the National MS Society, Greater Illinois Chapter. David then worked as an Assistant Account Strategist at Influence & Co., where they conducted secondary research and assisted with article development. In 2016, David interned with the Chicago Sky-Official as a Community Relations and Game Day Operations Intern. David also served as a Strategic Communications Intern at the University of Missouri Athletics. From 2017 to 2018, David worked at FleishmanHillard first as a Brand Marketing Intern and later as a Corporate Communications Intern. During this time, they assisted with campaigns, media monitoring, pitching, and conducting research. David's next role was as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they evaluated and assisted students in their public relations coursework. David then returned to FleishmanHillard as an Assistant Account Executive, Corporate Reputation, and later as an Account Executive, Brand. In 2022, David joined Zeno Group as an Account Executive, Consumer before being promoted to Senior Account Executive in January 2023.

David Prather attended Wheaton North High School, although their exact start and end years are unknown. After graduating from high school, they went on to pursue higher education. From 2011 to 2013, they attended the College of DuPage, where they earned an Associate's Degree in Journalism. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, with a focus on Strategic Communication. David furthered their education at the same university and obtained a Master's Degree in Journalism, specializing in Strategic Communication, from 2016 to 2018.
