Carrie Lear is a climate scientist currently serving as the Dean for Research and Innovation at Cardiff University, where they also hold a professorship in Past Climates and Earth System Change. They have a strong background in geochemical research related to past climate change and ice sheet stability, recognized by prestigious awards such as the Philip Leverhulme Prize and the Bigsby Medal. Carrie founded and chaired the UK Paleoclimate Society from 2017 to 2023 and contributed as a Full Panel Member for Earth and Environmental Sciences for REF2021. They are actively involved in EDI initiatives and serve as a climate science advisor at Zero Fintech and a trustee for Regrow Borneo Charity.
