Heather Johnston

Heather Johnston has extensive work experience in the field of safety and sustainability management. Heather is currently employed as the Head of Safety and Wellbeing at Zespri International since December 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Comvita Limited from January 2015 to December 2022, holding roles such as Head of Safety and Sustainability and General Manager - Safety & Sustainability. Before joining Comvita, they served as the Global Health and Safety Manager at Comvita Limited from January 2015 to January 2018. Heather also held the position of Health and Safety Manager at Seeka Kiwifruit Industries from September 2008 to January 2015. Their earliest work experience in the field was as the National Health and Safety Manager at Te Wananga o Aotearoa from November 2001 to January 2007.

Heather Johnston completed a PGDip in Business Administration and Management with Distinction at The University of Waikato from 2016 to 2017. Heather also obtained a Diploma in HS Management (Level 6) from NZIM in 2001 to 2002. In addition to their formal education, they have professional grading in Health and Safety from NZISM at the graduate level from 2012 to 2023. Heather also studied Human Resources Management at The University of Waikato from 2005 to 2007.
