Andrei Cosma

Andrei Cosma is a seasoned professional in perception engineering with extensive experience in the robotics and autonomous systems sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Perception Engineer at Zoox since January 2025, Andrei previously co-founded Ziteo Medical, Inc. and held the position of Sr. Director of Perception, where leadership of more than 10 engineers was demonstrated in developing robotic imaging systems for cancer detection. Prior roles include Autonomous Solutions Manager at Velodyne Lidar, Inc., where Andrei managed a team working on lidar-based safety systems, and Lead Computer Vision Engineer at mapper, focusing on high-definition 3D mapping. Andrei's academic foundation includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Vision from The George Washington University and a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca.
