Luis Riera

Luis Riera is a highly experienced engineering professional with a focus on propulsion systems and drivetrain technology. Currently serving as Lead Engineer for the Propulsion System at Zoox since July 2020, Riera previously held the position of Engineering Manager for Drivetrain at BYTON, where responsibilities included the technical lead for an all-electric propulsion system. Earlier experience includes a role as Technical Specialist for Transmission Systems at Lucid Motors, contributing to the development of the Lucid Air drivetrain, and as Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Pinnacle Engines, where Riera conceived and designed engine components. Riera began a career as a Mechanical Engineer at EnerFuel, Inc., notable for contributions to high-temperature fuel cell design and patent co-creation. Riera earned a BSME in Engineering from Florida Atlantic University between 2004 and 2008.
