Tom Austin

Co-Founder at Züs

Tom Austin has worked in various roles since 1998. Tom began their career as a Senior Software Engineer at Knight Ridder Digital, where they developed and maintained a Java/XSL based system to export XML and SGML feeds to CareerBuilder, Cars.com, and other vertical partners. In 2010, they interned at Mozilla Corporation in the Research Group, and then again in 2011, where they were involved with the dom.js project and the development of the ZaphodFacets Firefox plugin. In 2011, they were also an Intern at ESIEA, as part of a joint project between San Jose State University and ESIEA, applying hidden Markov models to the identification of metamorphic computer viruses. Since 2013, they have been an Associate Professor at San Jose State University and since 2017, they have been a Co-Founder at 0Chain.

Tom Austin received their BS in OMIS from Santa Clara University between 1994 and 1998. Tom then went on to earn a Master's degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University between 2004 and 2007. Finally, they completed their PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2012.
