Doukeris will have large shoes to fill as Brito had been with the company for 32 years, 15 of which were spent as the company’s CEO. The company said it would name Doukeris’ replacement by July 1.
“Michel is the right leader to take the company into its next phase of organic growth and success,” AB InBev Board Chairman Martin Barrington said. “He has a proven track record in innovation, multi-category brand building in beer and adjacencies, consumer insight, and expanding premium brands in both emerging and developed markets. The Board is excited to continue to work closely with Michel as we grow the company.”
Currently, Doukeris serves as the President of AB InBev’s North America Zone, the company’s third largest market by volume in 2020. Prior to leading the North America Zone, he served as the beer company’s global Chief Sales Officer and spent time as President of the Asia Pacific Zone. Among Doukeris’ many accomplishments throughout his over 20-year career at AB InBev, one sticks out as the company looks to the future of how consumers shop. He was the executive who implemented the company’s first direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform, which could prove valuable as COVID-19 has spurred a boom in online shopping for the company’s products.
Doukeris stated, “I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective that builds on our consumer-first mindset and drives innovation and transformation in this next exciting stage. I congratulate Brito on his exceptional career and thank the Board of Directors for their confidence in me to lead the next chapter of AB InBev’s growth.”
