Atom Computing Selects New CEO After Series A

Quantum computing startup Atom Computing has named its new chief executive, Rob Hays.

Hays, who has been appointed as CEO, President, and a member of Atom Computing's Board of Directors, joins the startup from Lenovo, where he served as the Chief Strategy Officer for its Infrastructure Solutions Group.

However, the bulk of Hays’s career took place at Intel, where he spent over 20 years and most recently led its Xeon processor roadmaps. This wealth of tech industry experience will be put to good use as Atom Computing has just announced that it has raised over $15 million in a Series A funding round and launched its first-generation quantum computing system, called Phoenix.

"Quantum computing has accelerated to a point where it is no longer 10 years out. The scalability and stability of our systems gives us confidence that we will be able to lead the industry to true quantum advantage," Hays stated.

"Atom Computing has a deep focus on scalable platforms compatible with error correction," said company Co-Founder and CTO Ben Bloom. "We've been able to focus on building a one-of-a-kind system that exists nowhere else in the world. Even within the first few months of Phoenix's operation, we have measured performance levels never before reported in any scalable quantum system."
