Disney Will Have a New HR Chief This Summer

Paul Richardson has been named as The Walt Disney Company’s new Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 1. He will take the reins from Jayne Parker, who will leave Disney at the end of June after 33-years.

CEO Bob Chapek announced Richardson’s promotion on Thursday and said, “I can think of no one better suited than Paul to build on the incredible work of Jayne Parker, who in 12 years leading Disney’s Human Resources function has had an indelible impact on the company, fostering a culture that has attracted and developed the industry’s best creative talent and most accomplished business leaders.”

Richardson, who currently serves as the SVP of Human Resources for ESPN, also served as Disney’s first Chief Diversity Officer from 2011 to 2017. He has held his position at ESPN since 2007 and has been responsible for strategic community investments, cause marketing programs, collaboration with sports organizations and employee volunteerism, as well as worldwide Global Security & Facilities Operations. Before joining the Disney family, he held HR roles at Universal McCann, Paramount Pictures, Bowne & Company, and The Times Mirror Company.
