Workplace mental health platform Modern Health has onboarded Gyre Renwick as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.

Renwick, who was an early employee at Google, has been tasked with leading Modern Health’s Sales & Partnerships, Client Success, Marketing & Growth, Operations, and Clinical Care teams. He will play a central role in guiding the entirely women-founded company through the next phases of hypergrowth as it looks to further integrate itself into the modern healthcare benefits ecosystem.

Before joining the digital health unicorn, Renwick was Chief Revenue Officer at Podium, where he led go-to-market teams. Before that he spent five years at Lyft as the VP of Business and Head of Healthcare for Lyft Business. While at the ride-sharing startup, he was responsible for medical transportation initiatives as well as the company’s general business team. Renwick also spent over a decade at Google connecting healthcare organizations to Google’s full lineup of products as its Head of Industry for Healthcare.

"Gyre's impressive background speaks for itself, but it's his personal passion for helping people that makes him such a perfect fit for Modern Health," Modern Health Founder and CEO Alyson Watson remarked. "As we enter our next phase of growth—with the monumental task of destigmatizing and increasing access to mental health support worldwide—I feel extremely fortunate to have someone of Gyre's caliber and experience on our leadership team who truly understands the value of our mission."

Earlier this year Modern Health broke into unicorn club with a $74 Million Series D funding round that valued the venture at $1.17 billion. The round came less than four months after the mental health platform closed a $51 million Series C. At the time, the company, which had tripled its talent base and doubled its roster of enterprise customers to over 220, said it would use the cash to continue its growth.

Currently, the company counts Pixar, SoFi, Okta, Carta, Rakuten, and Zendesk among its swelling client list.

"I am very excited about this opportunity and humbled by the trust that Modern Health has put in me," Renwick commented. "In my opinion, Modern Health with its customer-centric, innovative and evidence-led approach is the company that is going to lead the way in transforming mental health support in the workplace. I look forward to working with all customers and partners of Modern Health to achieve this together."
