Google’s John Zissimos has been named to Okta’s executive team as its first-ever Chief Digital Officer as it enters a new phase of growth.

Reporting into Chief Marketing Officer Kendall Collins, Zissimos will be responsible for Okta’s holistic creative, campaign, digital, and brand strategy

“The Okta Identity Cloud touches tens of millions of knowledge workers and customers every day and John has the ideal skill set to evolve Okta’s brand strategy and deliver the delightful digital experiences that our users have come to expect," Collins stated. “Okta will benefit tremendously from John’s pedigree in building the most recognizable software brands in the world. His brand vision, award-winning creative expertise, and empathetic approach to leadership and culture are unmatched. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Zissimos most recently served as Google’s VP of Creative, Brand, Media, and Customer Programs. At the tech giant he was in charge of the team responsible for marketing the Google Cloud Platform. Before that, the award-winning ad and design executive was the Chief Design Officer at Salesforce. He also spent time in top creative positions at McCann Erickson and J. Walter Thompson.

“I’m a storyteller and teambuilder at heart and am humbled to play a role in telling the Okta story and leading the creative brand strategy in the next phase of the company’s journey,” Zissimos added.

The news of Zissimos’ hire comes after the March announcement that the company would acquire identity-management specialist Auth0 for $6.5 billion to aid its continued growth in the $55 billion identity management market.
