Effective on January 19, Grubhub has named its first-ever Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Devry Boughner Vorwerk, to help the company find its voice on key issues.
Vorwerk will have an expansive set of responsibilities, as she will oversee the online food-ordering and delivery marketplace’s brand, communications, government relations, public policy, and sustainability initiatives. Her responsibilities will make her the face of Grubhub’s push to demonstrate its impact in communities across the country.
"We are so pleased to have Devry join Grubhub, especially during this consequential time for our industry and the restaurants that are the backbone of our local communities," Grubhub Founder and CEO Matt Maloney stated in a press release. "Devry's deep expertise in the food space and long-standing emphasis on sustainability will no doubt strengthen Grubhub's approach to serving our restaurant partners. Hiring her is a win for Grubhub, and we could not be more excited to welcome her aboard."
Before joining Grubhub’s team, Vorwerk served as the CEO of DevryBV Sustainable Strategies, a company she founded in 2019 that helps corporate leaders with organizational courage, strategic communications, mentorships for women in international careers, and geopolitical and stakeholder strategies.
Before starting her own company, Vorwerk had a nearly 15-year career at Cargill, where she served as Corporate Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs. She has also worked as a Senior Policy Advisor at Akin Gump and as the Chief Economist to the Chariman of the United States International Trade Commission. Vorwerk who holds degrees from the University of California at Davis and Cornell University, also has served as a Term Member at The council on Foreign Reltions and held positions on multiple business councils, including the US-New Zealand Business Council, US India Business Council, and US-ASEAN Business Council. She was also named a 2014 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
"I am thrilled to become part of the Grubhub team that is using its robust marketplace to help restaurants build their businesses while creating opportunities for drivers and solving for diners' personalized needs all at the same time," said Vorwerk. "The company is uniquely positioned in the industry since it places the success of local restaurants at the heart of its business model. Restaurants are part of the fabric that weaves our communities together, and now more than ever, they need support."
