Instacart has a new top marketer, Laura Jones, who will step into the role that has been vacant since February 2021. Jones joins as the grocery delivery platform’s VP of Brand & Marketing.
In this new role, she will lead the company’s central Brand & Marketing and report directly to COO Asha Sharma. She will also be responsible for sculpting a cohesive brand identity for the company and sit on the leadership team.
Jones joins from Uber, where she had served as Global Head of Marketing for the Rides business. She also worked as the company’s Uber’s Global Head of Product Marketing. Before her time at the ride hailing giant, Jones led Brand and Marketing Communications for Google Express and led brand identity development, physical asset design for all user touch points, and digital campaigns.
"As a long-time customer, I'm among the many who rely on Instacart to power my home," Jones stated. "Now, I'm excited to help define and shape the brand, threading it through all aspects of the experience, and to share the story of why we do what we do."
In the past year, Instacart’s popularity has exploded as consumers have flocked to the service to avoid lines and crowded grocery stores. To help keep pace with demand and fuel further growth the company raised $265 million in March 2021 as part of a new financing round from existing investors.
