Jason White is joining ViacomCBS as MTV Entertainment Group’s new CMO, replacing Jacqueline Parkes who stepped down from the position last year. White will report to President of Entertainment & Youth Brands, Chris McCarthy.
“Jason is an incredible creative entrepreneur who has developed and led marketing for some of the most iconic and innovative brands of all time from Nike to Apple’s Beats,” McCarthy said. “We’re excited for him to bring his passion and creative prowess to MTV, Comedy Central, Smithsonian and our full portfolio of brands within the MTV Entertainment Group.”
The seasoned marketing executive was most recently the CMO of Curaleaf, the largest cannabis provider in the U.S and has previously served as EVP, Global Head of Marketing for Beats by Dr Dre. He has more than eight years of experience at marketing agency Wieden + Kennedy where he was the Global Account Director for Nike and the Managing Director of the company’s Shanghai chapter.
In his new role, White will oversee marketing and social media engagement. MTV is a part of a group of media companies that are looking to tackle mental health portrayal in entertainment and White will be responsible for leading these campaigns at the company.
“MTV Entertainment has defined culture for decades and its brands and campaigns have inspired me both professionally and personally,” White said. “I look forward to joining Chris and the Group’s stellar marketing team as we continue to grow these iconic brands across all platforms and around the world.”
