Moderna has announced that Dr. Corinne Le Goff will join the biotechnology company as its new Chief Commercial Officer. Dr. Le Goff will officially step into her role Moderna’s Executive Committee on January 19, 2021 and will report directly to CEO Stéphane Bancel.

She is joining the company at an important time as it launches its COVID-19 vaccine, prepares to start the Phase 3 study of its CMV vaccine, and pivots to a commercial-stage company.

In a press release, Bancel praised Dr. Le Goff’s “impressive track record of execution and leading high-performing teams at global biopharma companies including Amgen and Roche, as well as her passion for creating value through scientific innovation, will position Moderna well as we continue building a best-in-class commercial team.”

Before committing to lead Moderna’s commercialization efforts, Dr. Le Goff served as SVP and President of Amgen’s U.S. Business Organization. During her nearly 6-year tenure at Amgen, she successfully led the commercial integration of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis medication Otezla. Prior to Amgen, Dr. Le Goff held a number of senior international roles at Roche as well as various leadership roles at Sanofi and Pfizer.

“I am delighted to join Moderna at this crucial time of the launch of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, as the company pivots to becoming a global commercial organization,” said Dr. Le Goff. “The Moderna technology is game-changing and will undoubtedly disrupt the traditional biotechnology world and in time lead to life-altering therapies.”

Based on evidence from clinical trials, the Moderna vaccine has proven to be over 94.5% effective at preventing COVID-19. The vaccine was approved for use in the US in mid-December 2020 and greenlit by the European Commission this week.
