Telemundo’s brand-new streaming service now has a leader, Juan Ponce, who has been promoted as the venture’s first SVP and General Manager.
Ponce, who now heads NBCUniversal's Telemundo Streaming Studios, will continue to report to Telemundo Global Studios President Marcos Santana. In his new role he will be responsible for the growth and development of the new streaming service as well as oversight of production operations, and production design. He will also be in charge of Telemundo’s Underground Producciones in Argentina.
“Juan is a seasoned executive with the perfect experience and track record to lead this new studio and help Telemundo Global Studios continue to pioneer this highly competitive industry,” said Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios. “His business acumen and creative expertise will be instrumental in helping us launch Telemundo Streaming Studios to fulfill the growing demand for streaming content among Latinos in the U.S. and across international markets.”
Ponce first joined Telemundo in 2016 and most recently had been the Spanish-language unit’s SVP of Production Operations and Strategy. Prior to joining the media company he founded and led New Generation Media and spent 15 years in the finance industry.
Earlier this month NBCUniversal launched Telemundo Streaming Studios, which bills itself as the first-ever studio in Hispanic media dedicated to serving Latino streaming audiences. Based out of Miami, the venture will kick off with over 35 projects in development and in production.
