Reddit, the IPO-bound social media site, has recruited Adriel Frederick as VP of Product for Reddit X, its division team focused on “bold bets” and ambitious, new features.

Reporting directly to the company’s Chief Product Officer Pali Bhat, Frederick will be the top product leader on the team that has been responsible for Reddit’s big bets, such as audio rooms and premium products.

“Reddit X is a natural evolution of our focus on bringing innovative community capabilities to Redditors everywhere,” Bhat elaborated in a statement seen by AdWeek. “I’m looking forward to Adriel bringing his passion for community and product innovation to the Reddit X team.”

Frederick joins the platform, which touts itself as “the front-page of the internet,” from Lyft, where he most recently worked as the ride-sharing company’s Director of Product Management for Marketplace. Before his time at Lyft, he led user acquisition efforts at Facebook (now Meta).

Frederick said, “I can’t wait to get started on Reddit X. I see so many opportunities to help more people discover communities, have deeper, more timely conversations and express who they are in the most community-powered space on the internet.”

Currently, Reddit registers over 50 million daily active uniques across more than 100,000 active communities. The website has grown rapidly over the past few years and reportedly has its eyes set on an IPO sometime in 2022.

The company submitted its draft registration with the SEC in December 2021, the first step to a public market debut, but is yet to take any additional steps.
