Socure, a digital identity verification and fraud solutions provider, has named Matt Thompson as the company’s General Manager of Public Sector Solutions.
In this new role, Thompson will attempt to replicate the success Socure has had in the commercial space as it looks to win lucrative government contracts for its anti-fraud and identity verification tools.
These tools could be leveraged by agencies to digitize physical common access cards, which are used by US government employees and contractors to access government computer networks and enter government buildings. They could also be used to help combat the billions of dollars lost to medicare/medicaid fraud as well as a surge in unemployment fraud.
Thompson, a former US Army Special Operations Officer, brings a wealth of expertise guiding companies into the public sector. He previously led IDEMIA’s efforts to inspire an industry-wide transition from physical to digital driver’s licenses as the head of its North American Civil and Digital Identity Business. He also co-founded ID.me, where he pushed the digital identity authentication company into the public sector, and held executive roles at McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, and Capital One.
Additionally, Thompson also served as the Chair of the Management Counsel for The Identity Ecosystem Steering Group where he helped support the Obama administration’s National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace.
Socure CEO Johnny Ayers added that Thompson brings market credibility to the role “and shares a personal vision that it’s our civic responsibility to be the first to equitably verify 100% of good identities in real-time, while completely eliminating identity fraud for every transaction on the internet.”
