Teen Vogue Taps Axios Reporter as New Editor-in-Chief

The search for a top editor at Teen Vogue is officially over. Condé Nast named Alexi McCammond, a political reporter for Axios, to lead the magazine as its new Editor-in-Chief. She will be taking over for Lindsay Peoples Wagner, who leaves the role today to return to New York Magazine’s The Cut to lead as EIC. McCammond will start the role on March 24.

The teenage fashion magazine has taken a stronger editorial stance in recent years to cover national politics and social justice issues. McCammond’s appointment sends a signal that Condé Nast intends to keep up the political coverage that’s been essential at revitalizing Vogue magazine’s younger sibling.

McCammond spent two years covering Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign for Axios and is also a frequent contributor on NBC and MSNBC. She previously worked as the news editor for Bustle and as a freelance reporter for Cosmopolitan.

"[McCammond’s] interest in fashion, wellness and important issues in the lives of the Teen Vogue audience and broad knowledge of business leaders, elected officials, influencers, photographers and filmmakers is unrivaled,” said Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and the editor-in-chief of Vogue in a statement.
