NYC’s top female-founded startups are hiring; negotiate your salary with confidence; how to ask for your old job back.

Welcome to the first edition of “Work in Progress,” The Org’s own free newsletter for job-seekers of every kind (please send an email to eliza.haverstock@theorg.com if you'd like to subscribe). As a recent job-seeker (and perpetual “work in progress”) myself, I’m thrilled to be building this resource. Twice per month, you can expect a curated collection of terrific companies and open roles, our latest career-related articles, interesting stats on the labor market and relevant social chatter. We’ll be testing and trying different things; feedback and ideas are most welcome!

A note: The name “Work in Progress” was the brilliant idea of my colleague Chinue Ellis. We think it encapsulates the essence of this newsletter — and what it’s like to nurture a career in a tight labor market where workers find themselves with a newfound sense of power. Maybe you’re actively seeking out your next role, you’re open to the idea of a new job or perhaps you’re just looking to grow in your current workplace. This is the place for you.
