Filip Defoort

Filip Defoort is currently serving as the VP of Software Engineering at 10x Genomics since January 2022, following a sabbatical in late 2021. Prior to this, Filip held various leadership positions at SpaceX from May 2015 to June 2021, including Sr. Director of Software Engineering (Applications) and IT, where responsibilities encompassed overseeing application software engineering and IT, along with managing flight software automation projects. As President and CTO of CirqueDigital, LLC from May 2001 to May 2015, Filip developed the GDI platform, which enhanced digital production integration. Early in their career, Filip co-founded Eyetronics, creating the patented ShapeSnatcher 3D scanning solution, and served as Director of Technology at Moon Crescent Animation, overseeing a significant facility construction project. Filip's educational background includes a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven and multiple certifications in rotorcraft helicopter piloting.
